Ezone Marine® thermal resistant marine grade glass is a technologically advanced glazing solution to help moderate inbound solar heat gain in a super-yacht or other luxury marine vessel. Perfect for pilot houses or any area on a vessel that experiences excessive exposure to the sun. It is a quality alternative to double glazed units potentially contributing to significant weight, and on-going fuel savings.

A pyrolytic process embeds invisible heat-reflective materials to the glass, allowing light to enter, but reflecting much of the inbound heat. It is possible to configure Ezone Marine to maximize heat retention for vessels in cooler climates.

Specifying Ezone Marine with DuraShield Marine® delivers all the benefits of exceptional thermal performance and the ultimate in strength and clarity. It can be supplied in laminated form that may eliminate the need for storm covers, or monolithic toughened (tempered) form which may require storm covers.

Ezone Marine - Design Considerations To Be Aware Of

Visible Light Reflectance (VLR)

  • Low Emissivity products such as Glasshape’s Ezone Marine have a higher rate of internal reflectivity than standard glass products, due to their high performing metallic coatings. Visible Light Reflectance (VLR) can increase by between 8-15%.
  • Consideration for aesthetic preferences and visual expectations should be made prior to selecting Low Emissivity products for thermal and solar control.
  • Consideration for visual reflection when the lighting inside is brighter than outside – i.e. nighttime, in cases where the reflection may negatively impact visual clarity through the glass.
  • Glasshape would recommend customers check samples in various lighting situations prior to using the product in a project to confirm suitability.

Windows

Standard and oversize capabilities allow naval architects to custom design vast windows delivering space and light into a vessel with floor to ceiling windows, both curved and flat. Compatibility with Glasshape’s thermal, security and printing offers – all in one window unit – make Ezone Marine a versatile glass solution for pilothouse, hull, deck and cabin windows. 

Windscreens

Customized shapes and specifications to meet the rigorous demands of these most vulnerable glass elements of a vessel – normally the thickest due to Blue Wave exposure. 

Port-lights & Dead-lights

By definition these small windows between the waterline and first deck are normally oval or circular in shape, and less than 0.16m² (larger than this being Hull Windows). Ezone Marine dead-light glass is a glass and polycomposite composition laminated together, creating a panel strong enough, that when broken, will remain watertight up to four times the design pressure. This product eliminates the requirements to carry traditional aluminium dead-light plates.
